Fox Ranger
This is a game that I played years ago on my 486 DX-2 66mhz which i still have fond memories of. Oh boy I sure miss the good old days.
Fox Ranger is a side scrolling space shooter where you gotta survive and blow up bosses. Made in 1992, this DOS Shareware game is pretty good and will keep you interested for a day or two. This game was played on DOSBox 0.72 which can be retrieved for free.
You can download the game (for free) as well as read an awesome review here: http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/703…GAMEPLAY starts at 3:37!!!
Anyway, in this video I go on HARD mode but EASY for shield and on my way to beat the game I ace level 1 and 4 (100% kills) and die on the same frame as level 6’s boss. I then show that you can still die while the bosses just blow up in their animation sequence. I had a very nice “white” invincibility mark during the last ’stage clear’ sequence, heh.
Level 1 is easy, boss also easy. I pick up the yellow thing and fire cobra as well as the lasers. Fire Cobra is a linear 5-fireball shooting weapon BUT eliminates enemy fire which is the best. Searching Missles, Shadow Missiles, Sweeper and FireBall are not seen (except for Sweeper for a second at the last stage).
Level 2 is an attempt to survive because from there the game becomes insanely hard and you have a lot to avoid. Boss is a wimp.
Level 3 shows Fire Cobra and why you need it. Boss can be beaten in 3 cycles.
Level 4 also easy, boss is toughy and I lose the shield by getting hit for no reason.
Level 5 is HARDEST because you cant see shit and the boss can own you if you don’t have fire cobra with you (I still got hit hard).
Level 6 is easy, but the boss has an instant kill attack (the missle), or so I remember.Music of the game is awesome (except for levels 4 and 5) and I even showed the main menu’s music at the end of the video. Intro for the game and epilouge as well as the greatest song in the game (credits) are also given.
I may make another video showing me beat bosses much faster.
End of the day: RECOMMENDED to play for 1-2 days, to pass the time.
Enjoy!
